Holiday Series: Travel or Stay Home?

As the fourth and final piece of our Holiday Blogging series, we’re sharing the team’s thoughts on holiday travel: To stay or to go.

Dave: I prefer to travel and get away from all the “crazy”.

Heinrich: I enjoy staying at home during the holidays. It’s a great time to be with family and friends, and relax.

Brent: We often spend Christmas with my in laws at our cozy, vintage ski-lodge style condo in Whistler. There is something so magical about being in the mountains, tucked in with a sweater and a warm drink.

Shira: Traveling during the holidays is a bit overwhelming to us! Airports are busy, cities get snowed in, prices are rocket high, and we just haven’t had the opportunity to do it nor have we aimed to go during the Christmas break. My family and I also very much enjoy the concept of a ‘staycation’. The children are familiar with their bed and living surroundings and so we can enjoy being together doing awesome things in our amazing city be it parks, shows, events, markets, holiday trains, restaurants, movies etc.!

Kayren: I’ve actually never traveled over the holidays. We usually have family fly in, which is always my favourite part. I couldn’t imagine the holidays any other way.

Deana: Stay home, but with a caveat. I like to head back to the Island to my family home to spend time reconnecting with loved ones. For me I enjoy the ease of pace (think hanging out in pajamas watching holiday movies) and enjoying meals and walks with friends. I love the nostalgia I get when I go home.

There you have it. Wolfgang Painters’ second annual holiday blogging series. All the best for a healthy and happy 2018!
