Fast Track To Summer 2017 Recap

And just like that Wolfgang’s fourth annual Fast Track To Summer customer appreciation event is a wrap!

With weather that far outweighed last year’s pending rain, our property manager guests took to the shading umbrellas with a plate of food and a drink to enjoy the sun and wager on the racing ponies. The event, which started in 2014, is hosted at the Hastings Racecourse in their private marquee which overlooks the final turn of the race. It was yet again a huge success bringing well over 100 of our customers, their friends and family and our beloved sponsors together. Guests sharing tables got to know one another over a beverage and a card game, were offered a chance at one of six draw prizes and contributed to our annual 50/50 donation collection for Vancouver based charity Cause We Care. In fact, our winner donated his winnings back to the charity!

Having been with the company a year and a half now, and this being my second go around with Fast Track the learnings were fewer, but no less important: Here are my top three takeaways to implement next time:

Bring change for 50/50
This was a slip on my end, but it’s imperative to have change (Ideally a few small bills, toonies and loonies) to ensure adequate change for 50/50 ticket requests.

Hire a photographer
Although photographers come at a cost, they’re truly worth it. Delegating the event is no easy feat. Throughout the event I was making sure that all sponsors were looked after, vendors knew where they were to be and when, the bar tab was accurate, prizes were drawn, 50/50 was sold and raffled off and that our customers and staff were comfortable. Looking back, I only snapped a few photos and didn’t get one of the team. Instead of being down on myself, I choose to take this as an opportunity to guarantee a photographer next year.

More interaction
Although our DJ was wonderful, his sound was quite quiet and looking back, the party scene could have been more apparent. Plus, we could have created more energy throughout announcing horse races to build anticipation.

As always, no event is complete with reflection and learning. I am taking these tips with me for future events.
