The Importance of Company Values

Thinking back on previous roles I’ve held, company values have usually been the core of the business. That being said, company values are easily referenced at times of benefit and dismissed when, perhaps, the outcome isn’t desired.

At Wolfgang we don’t roll that way. For us values start with recruitment. I recall my two job interviews for the position of Marketing Manager and how our Managing Director referenced Wolfgang’s values: support, own it, lean in and do the right thing, and their utmost importance to internal and external Wolfgang dealings. Having solid company core values which are lived by employees don’t only help in the recruitment process but actually help retain employees, too. Core values provide a framework for an entire team to rally around and make decisions easier to make.

Values are also an excellent and easy way to educate current and potential clients about what it’s like to do business with your company. For Wolfgang, our coworkers and customers are promised our core values:

  • Lean In: When faced with adversity, a setback or challenge, Wolfgang staff step up in order to grow.
  • Own It: Own it is moving beyond accountability; it’s all about optimizing systems and pride of workmanship.
  • Support: Support means providing information and resources to fellow team members and customers. Be it our Apples to Apples, Pre-Production or Job Close Checklist, we’re here to help by more than just painting your commercial or strata building.
  • Do The Right Thing: Doing the right thing is simply that. In a situation which challenges ethics, or forces an uncomfortable conversation, the Wolfpack always does the right thing by listening and taking action to correct the situation.

In the competitive environment of commercial painting in the Lower Mainland, Wolfgang’s values are one way we provide our customers with value and set ourselves apart.

I’d love to know, do you have core company values? If so, what are they?
