Leveraging Digital: Constant Contact

Last year we featured a number of posts in a series titled Leveraging Digital. This year, we’re carrying on in the tradition of sharing a number of resources we use here at Wolfgang to make our everyday lives easier.

This week we’re discussing email platform Constant Contact. Where do I start? I simply love Constant Contact. The online marketing platform was founded in 1995 and took the name Constant Contact in 2004. Having worked in the marketing realm for nearly five years, I’ve had my fair share of experience with email marketing through private company systems and through notable competitor, MailChimp. Additionally, I worked at a legal supplier back when the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) was passed, so I have a decent amount of knowledge on that too. CASL ensures that companies are held accountable for providing an easy unsubscribe option to recipients of their email marketing.

When I first started with Wolfgang back in January 2016, we were using MailChimp but I found opt in emails, managing unsubscribes and lists a real challenge. I turned to Constant Contact and since then haven’t looked back. Here are the top five things I love about Constant Contact.

1. Easy Unsubscribe

At Wolfgang we are proud to have a substantial list of email contacts. With that said, not everyone is interested in receiving our monthly updates. Once a user (email address) unsubscribes, Constant Contact tracks that data. If by chance I try to re-add the email address, Constant Contact alerts me and disallows it. This is an ideal feature as I respect boundaries and absolutely refuse to push notifications in an unwarranted manner.

2. Lists
Lists are simple to create by either uploading  files or adding emails individually (copy and paste style). Lists are easily added to, deleted from and edited.

3. All The Emails!
As previously mentioned, Wolfgang sends one E-blast monthly, but we also send a variety of emails via Constant Contact to segmented groups for events, contests and for our sales team. E-blasts are easy to duplicate, edit and customize.

4. Customer Support
This is huge. When I needed help embedding a YouTube video (all the helpful tips aside, I just couldn’t figure it out) the team at Constant Contact promply responded and helped me create my desired E-blast seamlessly.

5. Event Registration
I recently stepped up from our affordable $30 Email monthly subscription to try out the $50 Email Plus subscription. The event registration allows me to create an event landing page with a dedicated URL and provides guests with the ability to easily RSVP themselves and their guests and upload the event into their personal calendar.

So there you have it, the top five reasons why I dig Constant Contact. I’d love to know, do you use Constant Contact? MailChimp? Any other tool? How do you enjoy it?
