Employee Engagement: Keeping Up Culture

It’s always been interesting to me to compare any given industry’s high season. Personally, I find January right through to the beginning of June to be go time. In the first half of the year I am busy planning two customer appreciation marketing events, completing external marketing projects (this year we’re wrapping a few more vehicles and getting some signage created) and generally preparing our sales team for their busy, busy spring and summer seasons.

In order to motivate our painting teams throughout the year, we swear by a mix of educational and enjoyment events. Check out what Wolfgang Commercial Painters is gearing up to do in 2017 and let us know your thoughts on company culture; what do you do to have fun in the work year?

Monthly Gatherings
One of our Sales & Project Manager’s recommended that we take the afternoon of the last Friday of every month to hangout. Whether it’s snowshoeing, grabbing a bite and a beer, checking out the latest blockbuster or rock climbing, it gives us a great opportunity to connect. Plus, because it’s pre-booked, it gives us the time to get everything for that day and week complete. The best part about our monthly gatherings is the lack of pressure: whoever can come, can come! Easy peasy.

Team Celebrations
We typically get together as a team with our contractors at least three times annually. This year we’re getting back on the track for our annual go kart championship event, planning a family friendly summer activity and of course getting excited for next Christmas’ shindig.

Wolfgang University
At Wolfgang, we pride ourselves on the annual Wolfgang Commercial Painters University. The three part series occurs every year between spring and summer. Regular topics discussed include customer service, paint product knowledge and delivering on the final 5%. Wolfgang U is for our contractors and their painting teams.

Contractor Meetings
Finally, Wolfgang Painters ensures at least four contractor meetings annually. Our meetings take place in late winter and early fall. The meetings are brief, but allow us to roll out changes to systems, technology and feedback from our customers to our contractors. It’s good to have everyone on the same page, especially with customer feedback.
