Where To Start: New Years Prioritizing

We’re back in full swing here at Wolfgang, but it didn’t feel that way on my return to the office on Tuesday, January 3. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, I love my colleagues and I love Wolfgang, but after ten blissful days off where I generally checked out (other than the occasional social post), I was feeling slow mode.
If you were (or still are) feeling in the same boat as I was (less than enthused about jumping into the New Year) read on for for three tips to overcome the back to work blues.

  1. Don’t Start With Your Email…
First off, create a task list of things to accomplish for the day and week. For me, I considered imperative tasks such as tracking website visits, viewing our budget, scoping out my calendar and a few moments reviewing key marketing projects for the year. After doing so, I felt more stable.
  2. Time For Email
The holidays can lead to some very full mailboxes. I glanced at mine and found any customer inquiries and quote requests to deal with first. After those had been addressed I looked at emails from our internal team.
  3. Slow and Steady Wins The Race
As I mentioned above, on your first day back, prioritize what needs to get done that day (i.e. responding to customers) and allow the bigger projects to wait it out for the day or week.

There you have it. Three basic, manageable steps to follow to for a smoother transition back into work. You can also check out last week’s blog on kicking off the New Year here. Oh, and don’t forget to make time to catch up with your colleagues on how the holidays went!
