Holiday Series: Top Three Tips To Kicking Off The New Year

Now that the holidays are wrapping up, I’ve turned my energy into how to create a smooth transition from 2016 to 2017 and get back into the work mode (I return in the New Year). As our final post in our holiday blogging series, here are my tips to starting off on the right foot.

1. Plan, plan, plan

A connection of mine recently told me in the most eloquent way just how administrative heavy she finds marketing. I’m an analyzer and love details, data and consistency, so I suppose I never looked at my workload in that light. That being said, this time of year I am hyper focused on ensuring that all documents and photos are properly filed and shared with my team members, that relative content is being shared, that our holiday marketing approach is dialed in and scheduled and that even during the time off, our posts continue. Remember, this time of year many of your customers have time off and enjoy their leisure time checking out LinkedIn and various other social sites; keep yours updated!

2. Use a scheduling assistant
I’ve spoken before about Hootsuite. Although I use it sparingly (I prefer to actually be social on social media) the holidays are a great time to schedule a number of posts. I ensured that I used the tool from December 26-30, with the occasional check in planned in my daytimer. Also, copy your 2016 social media posting calendar and create a template for 2017.

3. Know where to start come January
My plan of attack included a pre-written blog article for January 5 (in case I’m not feeling productive), as well as a full calendar for the first week of check ins and data tracking. I plan on checking our AdWords account, website analytics, social media followers and engagement. This way I can ease back into work mode with some basic, yet pertinent tasks before starting a fresh project.

I hope these tips help you in your role and on behalf of all of us at Wolfgang Commercial Painters, Happy New Year! PS: Check out the first four posts in our holiday blog series and let us know your thoughts using the hashtag #WolfgangChristmas.
