Why Wolfgang Uses Subcontractors

You know, there seems to be a certain negative stigma around subcontractors as being problematic when it comes to construction. That’s why as a commercial painting company, we’ve experienced the cold shoulder from those not interested in working with subcontractors.

I’m here to give you the backstory, why we at Wolfgang once used employee painters but shifted to subcontractors. After reading this I hope you might even consider welcoming subcontractors instead of turning them away. Wolfgang has been around since 2004 and back then, we used employee painters. This model worked for a short amount of time before we felt the need to improve both quality and service, and here’s the thing: quality painters, the cream of the crop, work for themselves. These business owners and fine painters were not interested in selling their services, instead they were (and still are) incredibly focused on perfecting their craft. We reached out to them and from there a relationship was built. We were able to offer our customers the city’s best painters and offer our painters ongoing professional development through training and cultural company events.

The common misconception is that subcontractors are awarded work and do not complete on time, budget or professionally. To mitigate the “dump and run” issue as mentioned above, Wolfgang created a system to support painters and increase our company quality; any painters that work with Wolfgang must first go through a rigorous approval process before being considered ‘Approved Contractors’. Then in time if suitable, the best of the best can reach the top tier of ‘Certified Contractor’. Wolfgang Certified Contractors are among the best painters in the city, consistently providing a great finished product and an exceptional service experience. They are reliable and professional, being audited annually to ensure their status.

In addition, all subcontractors are managed by a dedicated Wolfgang Sales & Project Manager who ensures that our Wolfgang Promise is delivered on for each project.

Through the use of subcontractors, Wolfgang has been able to extend quality workmanship to our customers, provide career growth and build meaningful, lasting relationships with our painters and create a culture of learning and fun for all involved through Painting Universities and holiday gatherings. In fact, all of our Certified Contractors have been with us for several years, some for over a decade.
There it is. The honest truth about why Wolfgang celebrates the use of subcontractors. Thoughts? Let me know!
