Leveraging Digital: Hootsuite

The third post in our Leveraging Digital series is in discussion of automated posting tools for social media, with a focus on Hootsuite.

Automated posting tools assist in management of a variety of social profiles. Wolfgang uses Hootsuite as its posting tool of choice for its simple navigation, clean interface and the added bonus that the multi-million dollar company was born locally in Vancouver. Hootsuite offers a variety of tools for managing engagement, publishing, analytics, campaigns, workflow mapping and employee advocacy. Engagement is helpful to view what is and is not resonating with your target audience, Publishing is all about post automation and Analytics shows the quantitative data. Campaigns aid in contest preparation and implementation, Platform is essential for workflow mapping and Amplify allows employees to advocate by sharing content through their personal social profiles (and that’s a big bonus).

Hootsuite offers three plans, and one extended Enterprise plan for marketing and advertising agencies with large customer volume. The three plans range from $0.00 to $9.99 per month and upward.

Our experience at Wolfgang has been through the simply Free account which allows for one user, three social profiles to be managed, basic analytic reports and message scheduling. The account level works ideally, for now, as Wolfgang has one staff member involved in publishing posts on only four social networks. One drawback to the Free account is the disability of posting bulk messages; messages must be provided on a one by one basis. That being said, the tool provides the basics: the ability to post to multiple profiles, view newsfeeds in one dashboard and view comments, likes, shares and general engagement of a given post. The Wolfpack uses Hootsuite to view engagements at a glance and prepare automated Twitter and LinkedIn posts primarily, as Facebook has a great built in scheduling tool. As our team continues to grow, we may find the value in purchasing  a Pro or Business membership.

We’d love to know, do you participate in social media, and if so, do you use Hootsuite or any other automated posting tool? To see more of our Leveraging Digital posts, visit the Stir Stick Blog.
